Famous (or rather the infamous) self-titled feminist Germaine Greer, is back in the headlines as the 79-year old made an appearance at the Hay Festival last Wednesday, where she went on to claim that the punishment for rape was much too severe. She justified her comments (in her mind), saying that rape was really just a case of bad sex, and rarely involved any actual injury.

Just for reference sake let’s take a look at this kind old-granny, yeah?

This butterfly scarf adorned, pearl wearing, silver haired harridan is basically the person who has single handedly set back and undermined a generation of women who have been making waves as they force the patriarchy to deal with the shit they’ve been putting out via the #MeToo movement.

Why?

Because she has sought to refute the basis of the entire movement. The right not to be raped, has now been reduced to a mere inconvenience, like having to pick a different ice-cream flavour.

Twitter obviously didn’t take kindly to her nonsense, and wasted no time in calling her out:

Fortunately, we are past the age when irrelevant comments on the news are able to go without consequence. This is not 79 years ago, and we do not blindly accept merely because something was said by someone who used to be relevant.

We live in the age of consequences. And as more and more social platforms boldly decry her polarising comments, Germaine Greer is about to learn just that.
