The debacle of the Commonwealth Games Closing Ceremony is currently doing the rounds on the web, with Channel 7 choosing to show My Kitchen Rules over the Olympic closing ceremony.
Looking at the ratings for Sunday night, it would appear viewers were glued to Channel 7 all night between 6pm and 10.30pm, however the station chose to self-promote their headline cooking show rather than the athletes procession at the closing ceremony.
Twitter was still reacting Monday morning, here’s what the rest of the country woke up to…
Classic! Channel 7 showed My Kitchen Rules over the athletes entering the stadium! Such poor form & self promotion. All national sporting events should only be televised by ABC or SBS who don’t have sponsors to consider. #ClosingCeremony

This closing ceremony is proudly produced and choreographed by a middle aged drama school teacher, experienced in fancy school pantomime’s & whose greatest form of inspiration was the first season of Australian idol and Carols in the domain😩 #ClosingCeremony

So it’s fair to say that the Gold Coast suns no longer hold the record for worst performance at Metricon stadium #ClosingCeremony
