William and Kate carefully avoided having Diana’s friend and favorite singer Sir Elton John perform at their 2012 Westminster Abbey wedding, opting instead to have then fresh faced British Pop sensation Ellie Goulding take center stage – and it seemed that Princess Di’s tributes had deliberately been kept to a minimum.
Elton John, who was one of the few friends Princess Diana had, previously performed a re-written rendition of ‘Candle in the Wind’ for Diana’s funeral and continued to remain a close friend of the Royal Family, and attending William and Kate’s own wedding as a guest.

He has never spoken out about private conversations he had with the young Prince Harry, who confided that he was in love to John. But he has talked about how he remembers being happy for him, adding that he was sure that Diana would have been proud of both William and Harry.

Harry and Meghan, however seem to be doing things quite differently and after months of speculation, after the Tiny Dancer singer cancelled tour dates at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, it has finally been confirmed that Elton John will indeed be performing at the upcoming Royal Wedding.
One thing is for sure – with two happily married sons, and so much love still being sent her way, the People’s Princess, can finally rest easy.
